Antenatal Shared Care

Antenatal Shared Care (ANSC) is joint care by GPs and the hospital antenatal clinic for a pregnant woman with no adverse fetal, pregnancy or  maternal risk factors.

The ANSC programs in our region are with:

  • Blue Mountains Hospital – Antenatal Clinic
  • Nepean Hospital - Antenatal Clinic

We maintain a list of GPs who wish to participate in ANSC. This list is shared with the antenatal clinics of the participating hospitals.

Clinical Guidelines and Referrals

A range of antenatal pathways can be found on the HealthPathways website. Clinical pathways include:

Ongoing Educational Requirements to be part of the ANSC program

ANSC GPs are required to undertake ten hours of pregnancy-related education each year.

From 1 January 2023, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) GPs are now required to log 50 hours of CPD every year, complete a professional development plan and refresh their skills with one CPR course in the triennium.

Relevant educational activities can be completed via online education platforms or face-to-face through our events or external organisations. Our education events are posted on CPD & Events webpage. Visit the RANZCOG Events for upcoming meetings and CPD-approved events.

GPs who choose to attend an external event are required to submit their certificate of attendance to our ANSC Team via email.
