Suicide Prevention Training

Suicide is the leading cause of death for Australians between the ages of 15 and 44. We are taking a community-wide approach to suicide prevention in our region, which includes supporting various free training opportunities in suicide prevention for health professionals and the community.

These activities are part of the Australian government’s Targeted Regional Initiatives for Suicide Prevention.

Overview

We invite people in our region who may work with those experiencing trauma or exposed directly to trauma - including health professionals, community support workers, and people employed by non-government and government organisations to attend free Managing Wellbeing and Recognising Vicarious Trauma Training delivered by Blue Knot Foundation.

Research shows that people who work with individuals effected by trauma, or who are exposed to people’s trauma stories or traumatic material, are at risk of vicarious trauma.
