Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence (DFSV) is a major health and welfare issue in Australia, affecting people across all socioeconomic and demographic groups. People are encouraged to care for their wellbeing when engaging with the content on this page.
Domestic and family violence refers to any form of abusive or intimidating behaviour within a relationship, which can involve a partner, carer, or family member; it encompasses any actions intended to control, dominate, humiliate, or instill fear in the other person.
While men do experience DFSV, its women and children who are most impacted, affecting not only individuals but also families and communities as a whole.
Many people might not know that their GP can be a safe first point of contact if you or someone you know is facing domestic, family, or sexual violence or child sexual abuse. For guidance or more information please speak to your GP.
