The Healing Through Truth Telling Program is delivered to year 10 students at Lithgow High School and uses the SBS Australian Wars documentary to guide conversations about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples experiences, the impacts of colonisation, trauma, reconciliation and healing.
The program is designed to support suicide prevention through a focus on wellbeing, resilience and connection to culture. Learnings involve Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, a nominated school buddy and parents in a holistic, family-supported model.
The program is delivered during school terms in 2025 and 2026, with sessions running from early February to early April and again from late April to early July 2026.
