About The Opportunity
South Western Sydney Local Health District is looking for a specialist general practitioner to join the Primary and Integrated Care Unit (PaICU) which is part of the Mental Health Service. This position works to support the physical health of mental health consumers.
The position is up to 0.8FTE.
There is capacity for the position to work across Bankstown, Liverpool and Macarthur Community Mental Health Services, to align with current service needs.

What You'll be doing
You will join a small team working alongside Community Mental Health teams across South Western Sydney to improve physical health outcomes for individuals living with mental illness. As a staff specialist you will have the opportunity to participate in teaching and research relevant to your role.
Where You'll Be Working
SWSLHD Community Mental Health Services provide comprehensive, community-based mental health care across South Western Sydney.
These services cater to different age groups, including children, adolescents, adults, and older persons, ensuring specialised care throughout various life stages. The multidisciplinary teams offer a range of supports, including mental health assessments, crisis intervention, care coordination, and therapy. They work closely with inpatient services, GPs, and other community organisations to provide holistic care.

How to Apply
- Current medical practitioner, registered, or eligible for registration, with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners or Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine and/or other specialist recognition as provided under the Staff Specialists (State) Award.
- Demonstrated current clinical practice of a high standard and ability to adapt clinical practice in accordance with contemporary evidence based best practice.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
- Demonstrated track record in research development and publication and participation in teaching and training at undergraduate and/or post graduate level, including supervision of junior medical staff.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuing self-education and development, including evidence of participation in continuing medical education/ continuing professional development.
- Evidence of ability to work cooperatively with other staff and practitioners and in a multidisciplinary health care team.
- Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
