Medicare Urgent Care Clinic Penrith
The Penrith Medicare Urgent Care Clinic (Medicare UCC), established in August 2023, was initially funded until 30 June 2026. The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing has confirmed continued funding from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2028.
As commissioners committed to due process and service improvement, we are conducting a request for tender (RFT) to select a provider for the Penrith Medicare Urgent Care Clinic from 1 July 2026.
Medicare UCCs have been established to enhance access to urgent, non-life-threatening episodic care when general practice is unavailable. The Penrith Medicare UCC facilitates patient access to appropriate care pathways across the broader health system, including referral back to the patient’s regular GP or other healthcare providers to support continuity of care. The clinic will operate in close collaboration with local health services to ensure effective integration, with clear referral and escalation pathways into and out of the Medicare UCC.
All general practices in the Penrith local government area (LGA), including the existing provider, are welcome to apply for this tender.
To be eligible to deliver this service, your practice must be located in the Penrith LGA and meet the requirements set out in the Operational Guidance document.
