Nurse Re-entry Program - For General Practices

Are you looking to add a practice nurse to your team? Have you considered hosting a skilled nurse in a supervised placement at your practice?

About this opportunity

The Nurse Re-entry Program is an Australian Government initiative supporting general practices to build their capability by hosting nurses in supervised placements. The Nepean Blue Mountains Primary Health Network is delivering this program nationally across Australia.

The program will strengthen your team by training nurses within your practice to regain full registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA). Once completed, the nurse will have met the requirements for full registration and be fully trained in your practice.

Which practices can apply?

To be eligible to participate, your practice must be accredited and have an existing RN (minimum 12 months experience in general practice) who can supervise the re-entry nurse for the level and duration required by the NMBA.

How does my practice benefit?

On the completion of this program, your practice will have a fully registered nurse, ready to join your team. However, there is no requirement to employ the re-entry nurse permanently.

Eligible practices may receive a grant to support this placement.

How does my practice apply?

Expressions of interest (EOI) are now open for the Nurse Re-entry Program. Submit your EOI online and we will contact you to arrange a suitable time to discuss practice eligibility and next steps.
