Carers of Men: Supporting Those Who Support Others | THREE SESSIONS

Event Details

Date:

15 November 2024 1:00pm – 3:00pm

Region:

Penrith

SESSION ONE OF THREE
Participants are required to attend all 3 sessions

Supporting men at risk of suicide can be challenging, but you don’t have to do it alone.

The Carers Support Program offers family members, friends, and loved ones the tools and support they need. Join the in-person group sessions to connect with others and learn strategies to manage your own self-care while supporting your family member or friend.

What You’ll Gain:

  • Learn how to be there for a man who might be thinking about suicide or experiencing periods of suicidal distress
  • Explore ways to look after yourself while supporting others
  • Access information on local services and how to connect with them.
  • Discover how to talk and work with your friend or family member to help keep them safe

How does it work?
The program combines both group and individual support facilitated by our Family Clinician and Peer Workers. Three group sessions (2 hours each) are delivered over 5 weeks.

Between group sessions, you’ll have the opportunity to speak individually with a peer worker and family clinician over the phone or by video. This will give you the opportunity to ask any further questions.

You will also be able to reach out for two support calls, within two months following the conclusion of the groups.
