Live well with dementia | Lithgow Community Event

Do you have dementia, younger onset dementia or know or care for someone who does?

We are holding a free community event for people with dementia, younger onset dementia and anyone who is caring for someone with these conditions.

Join us and hear from expert speaker Michelle Wykes from Nepean Hospital on how to maintain mobility and function through the dementia journey.

Maintaining movement is especially important for people living with dementia as it can improve memory, mood and sleep as well as reduce the risk of falls.

Also hear about services and supports that may be helpful.

Facts and statistics

Dementia affects many in our community. In addition to people who are living with dementia, many members of our community provide care for someone living with dementia.

  • There are up to 350,000 people in Australia who provide care for people living with dementia
  • As our population is ageing, the rates of dementia are expected to increase in our community
  • Many people with dementia are living well in the community for many years with support from services and family and friends
