Overview

Anyone can be a Community Connector, you may already be well on the way!

Who is this training for?

Being a Community Connector is about having the knowledge and skills to direct (signpost) people to services, activities or information when you come across someone in your day to day life who may need it.

Neighbours, volunteers, hairdressers, taxi drivers, retail workers, pharmacy assistants, health professionals – anyone who has contact with older people can be a great Community Connector.

What will you learn?

This training will help you to connect people, particularly those who may be isolated, using your local knowledge and the new MyHealthConnector directory. This is locally tailored training to signpost local supports to people to benefit their health and wellbeing.

Why be a Community Connector?

Older people without adequate social connections are at an increased risk of poorer mental health and wellbeing, negatively impacting their physical health and use of health services. The more people that know about the support that is available in the community, the more we can all support each other.

There will be a small amount of pre-reading tasks to be completed in the week prior to the session and a short online follow-up to wrap up the training. More information will be provided on registration.

TRAINING IS FULL; NO NEW REGISTRATIONS ACCEPTED
