Primary Care Trainer EOI

We are seeking a GP or nurse to join the Care and Connect - Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence (DFSV) Program to support the delivery of training to primary care practitioners within the Nepean Blue Mountains region.

All administrative tasks associated to the training will be carried out by the PHN. This includes but not limited to advertising,  registrations, CPD requirements, venue/zoom bookings etc.

Program overview

We have been funded by the Department of Health and Aged Care to improve primary care responses to domestic and family violence (DFV) through training and referral support. The funding has now been expanded to include Sexual Violence (SV) and Child Sexual Abuse (CSA).

Position objective

The position requires the successful practitioner to:

  • co-deliver SV and CSA training to primary care (GPs, nurses, practice staff) with another GP and or specialist Care and Connect Linker.
  • attend meetings as required/available.
  • participate in the National PHN DFSV GP group quarterly meetings.
  • review training/resources and provide feedback, when required.
  • support promotional activities including videos and articles, when required.

Who should apply

Ideally, the practitioner will have sound knowledge around:

  • issues related to domestic and family violence, sexual violence and/or child sexual abuse (or willingness to learn).
  • the principles of providing trauma-informed care.
  • the indicators and health impacts of patients who have experienced trauma in the context of domestic and family violence, including child sexual abuse.
  • experience in delivering training or a willingness to acquire training skills.

Time commitment

  • It is anticipated the practitioner will co-facilitate approximately 6 sessions per year and includes face-to-face and online.
  • Each session (SV and CSA) takes approx. one hour to deliver. Both sessions will be delivered together with a short break in between.
  • Most events will take place in the evening between 6:00pm and 9:00pm.
